  • Simple pleasures - Kogi Truck

Class was cancelled today due to professor illness, so I had the day free.  I decided to visit the Trader Joe's in Westwood.  Wow, it really is one of the largest Trader Joe's I've ever been to.  Apparently, Ezekiel bread people makes tortillas, so I bought them for my shredded cheese in the fridge.  I also picked up some dry active yeast.  Wanted to try making some fresh rosemary foccacia bread.  Anyway, then, kogibbq twittered their lonliness at SMC, so I thought I'd go try them out.  I stopped by SMC and lo and behold... no lines!  Sadness that I tried the famous traveling truck after giving up meat, but the tofu tacos were pretty good.  Very flavorful with lots of garlic and Korean chili paste.  Contrasts nicely with the corn tortillas.  I imagine it would be pretty great with short ribs or the spicy pork.

Have you guys tried the Kogi truck/food?

  • Simple pleasures - walking through UCLA

It's been a long time since I've been on campus.  It's amazing how UCLA keeps expanding and adding new buildings to the campus.  I had the opportunity to babysit some kids and we walked through campus to the inverted fountain, which to our delight was actually turned on.  The kids enjoyed running around the quad, while us big kids enjoyed sitting in the shade.  It was a February hot day!  Also, enjoyed the pesto pasta for lunch.  I need to get a food processor because I love the taste of fresh pesto. Yum!

  • Simple pleasures - Day 2

Watching an episode of The Big Bang Theory.  It is my new favorite show.  In my opinion, better than How I Met Your Mother, The Office, and the like.  I love a show about science nerds and the hilarity that ensues.

Have you seen the show?  If not, why not?  Go and watch the show!  You won't be disappointed

  • Simple pleasures - Day 1

In light of the economic recession, I thought I'd blog about the simple joys in life.  I'd been a bit discourage about the overwhelming business of life and impending unemployment upon graduation, but life is really good and there are so many things to be grateful for.  Today, I started the day by having breakfast with my roommate Joey at Cafe 50's.  We both love breakfast and enjoyed the nice leisurely walk to the restaurant.  She had banana walnut pancakes and I had oatmeal.  Yum...  Today is also the beginning of the Lenten season and I have decided to give up meat once again.  And considering becoming a pescetarian (vegetarian +fish) for both health and environmental reasons.  I hope everyone has a great day~!

I'd love to hear about your simple pleasures.  What has brightened your day today?
